What are lash extensions?

Lash extensions are synthetic individual lashes. They come in different curls, lengths, thicknesses, and colours. Each extension is applied to an individual natural lash with an adhesive. Lash extensions are a great alternative to mascara, strip lashes or cluster lashes.

Why should you get lash extensions?

Lash extensions are a great way to get thicker, fuller, and longer lashes without the use of makeup or mascara. This means no flaking or clumping and less time spent applying makeup in the morning! Sets can be tailored to be more natural or dramatic, depending on your personal style.

What is the difference between Classic, Volume, and Hybrid?

A Classic Lash set has a 1:1 natural lash-to-lash extension ratio. This means that one single lash extension is applied to each lash. The fullness of the lashes will be similar to your natural fullness however, the lashes will be darker, longer, and more curled. Classic lashes are a great place to start if you are new to lash extensions, or prefer a more natural style.

Volume Lash sets come in 2D, 3D, and up to 6D; meaning 2 – 6 lash extensions per lash. The lash extensions for volume are much finer than those used in classic sets, which gives them a fluffy and natural feeling. Your lash tech will form the lash extensions into a fan before applying them to your natural lash. This will give you a much fuller look and fill in any gaps you may have in your lash line. Volume lashes are great for special events, weddings, individuals with sparse natural lashes or individuals who prefer a more dramatic look.

A hybrid set is a mix of the individual Classic Lashes and Volume Lashes.

How long do they take to apply?

You should plan 2 hours for a full set of Classic Lashes and 3 hours for a full set of Volume. Touch-ups and fills range from 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on how long it’s been since they were applied and which type of set is being filled.

How long do they last?

Touch-ups or fills are recommended every 2 – 4 weeks.

Do they hurt?

No! You should feel no discomfort during the application process. Some people can be more sensitive to the adhesive than others and experience a slight gravely or burning feeling in their eyes during the application.

Will they damage my natural lashes?

Properly applied and removed lash extensions will not damage your natural lashes and are safe to wear year-round. Damage can occur if extensions are applied to lashes that are too young (smaller than 4mm), if you attempt to remove them by pulling or picking at them, if the extensions are too heavy for your natural lashes to support, or your natural lashes were glued to each other by an improperly trained lash tech.

A well trained and experienced lash artist can advise you on which lengths of extensions you can safely wear, will isolate your lashes properly so they can grow out naturally and will use best practices and techniques for applying your lash extensions.

Can I wear makeup with lash extensions?

Yes! It’s important to keep them clean however, so using a lash shampoo or water based facial cleanser to cleanse them at the end of the day is important. Oil based products will cause the adhesive to break down sooner, so be sure to check the ingredients on your makeup, cleansers, and moisturizers. For eyeliner, we recommend using powder, as it’s easier to remove at the end of the day and doesn’t contain oil.

Mascara MUST be avoided with Volume Lashes. It will immediately close the fans and ruin your set.  With all lash extensions, it will cause the adhesive to break down faster. Mascara is okay to use on your bottom lashes.

Can everyone get lash extensions?

Lash Extensions are not recommended for women who are pregnant or for individuals who have a history of picking or pulling at their lashes. They are also not recommended for those with an allergy to Lash Extensions.

What if I want to remove them?

Removals are free for Honeypot clients, take about 15 - 30 minutes. Lash extensions must be professionally removed, please do not try to remove them at home.
